Fruitful intensive week
The IRIS Turku Intensive weeks are here and we are excited! Our lovely guests arrived Turku during the weekend. We got three student ambassadors from Tumaini University College of Dar es Salaam (TUDARCo) one student Library and Information studies and two Bachelor of Information Management. In addition, project has new Finnish International Business student assistant.
On Monday we started by introducing the experienced participants and newcomers to each other. Jaana and Harri were giving our guests a warm welcome. Students were toured around TUAS campus and we all ate lunch together in Mauno restaurant.
On Tuesday morning the students were visiting the information and library class in Lemminkäisenkatu campus, while the rest of the group members had a project meeting. Students were introduced to the campus library and gave a short introduction of Tanzania to Finnish students. On afternoon the students took a short walk in the city, although the weather was very chilly, windy and rainy as well. After the tour, the whole team went to dinner to Hiili. We enjoyed the dinner and big portions of food (especially pizzas!)
On Wednesday morning the whole team was introduced to the Firma and game lab in ICT building. After lunch Petri joined the crew and held a project meeting for the whole team.
On Thursday we had our highly anticipated day trip to Viking Line ship. The morning started with breakfast together. After breakfast we were guided to conference room on the boat. Petri held us a performance matrix-workshop. After Board meeting and workshop of Tibe event planning, we changed the boat heading back to Turku and enjoyed the company of each other together at the lunch. After that the whole evening was about taking time off in the boat and enjoying the atmosphere.
We have had an amazing week with our beloved guests. It’s been very awarding week full of activities, meetings and workshops. In addition, we have our mindset set up for the development of the project and of course Tibe event. Lots of new ideas have brought up to our attention and hopefully the next week will be as fruitful as the first has been. Unfortunately some of the project members are heading home already this weekend.
