Touring in Turku
Today was a very chilly day in Turku, but it didn’t stop us from going on a city tour with our Tanzanian guests.
Our group consisted of three Tanzanian library and information services students and six Turku University of Applied Sciences students. First we visited Turku University library Teutori, then we went to see the Cathedral of Turku and our last stop was Turku main library.
Despite the cold weather, the atmosphere was warm and the students were very excited to see the Cathedral of Turku.
There was a lot to see inside the church and also many interesting things to take pictures of.
At the same time there was a children’s group visiting the church and we got to hear their beautiful singing.
Mikael Agricola (pictured above) was a Protestant reformer and the bishop of Turku. It has been 500 years since the reformation, which can be seen greatly around the city through various events.
Our team enjoying the crisp weather next to the Cathedral and River Aura.
We stopped briefly on the Library Bridge to take more photographs and enjoy the scenery before heading to our last destination.
The last stop for the day was Turku City Library. the library offered us warmth after our walk from the Turku Cathedral.
Our guests admired the art that was on display at Turku City Library.
We are looking forward to our next adventure on Thursday!
