Trip to Ruissalo

30.10.2017

On Thursday our plan was to catch a bus to Ruissalo so that we would be at Honkapirtti at 1 PM to have lunch. However, we didn’t make it on time, so we had to think of something else to do until there would be the next one.

We showed our visitors The Turku Market Hall and shopping mall, Hansakortteli. They found the book and technology shops interesting.

After looking a bit around we got on our next bus to Ruissalo to finally have lunch.

The Turku Market Hall was undoubtedly an interesting place to see. There was many kinds of meat, fish and other food. We encouraged our visitors to try the food samples with us.

On our way from the bus stop to Honkapirtti there was an enormous tree with a child-sized hole in it.

We finally arrived to Honkapirtti. We were all so hungry, but there was still time to admire the beautiful building before heading inside.

There was a very cosy open fire place in Honkapirtti. Our original plan was to have a walk in Ruissalo, but today was so cold and it had just snowed so we decided to only have lunch and enjoy the warmth.

We got to enjoy a traditional Finnish lunch typically eaten on Thursdays: pea soup, rye bread and Pannukakku, Finnish equivalent to pancakes. The food tasted exceptionally good in the cosy and peaceful environment.

Our tummies full and minds relaxed it was good to wait the bus back to the city centre and continue towards new adventures.
